Hawaii!

Larry, Bryton and I just returned from a FABULOUS trip to Maui. The weather was amazing, and it was so wonderful to be able to get away from the snow and dreariness of Utah in January for a week. I always feel such a letdown in January after the holidays are over and all you have to look forward to for the next 3-4 months is a seemingly never-ending parade of one cold dreary day spent inside the house after another. So, it was great to be able to spend 8 days in a beautiful tropical island paradise soaking up some much needed sunshine. They say that you can literally be addicted to tanning and I think it's true. It just feels so nice to soak in some sun. I tried to really absorb and enjoy every minute of the trip so that I could remember how it felt when I got back to the snow. We had a really great time swimming, snorkeling, hiking, whale watching, driving around the island, and just walking around enjoying the weather. Bryton was very well-behaved and absolutely loves the water! He was even patient and well-behaved on the long flights. What a great trip!Get ready for a lot of pictures to scroll through- I need to figure out how to lay them out in a different way, so they don't take up so much space, but that will have to wait for a time when I'm feeling more ambitious.

Ready for swimming!

This was one of the cutest things I've ever seen! Larry would help Bryton float on his back, and he would close his little eyes, lean back and relax. He was so trusting and just looked so adorable!

Our little family on the beach our first night

Hiking down to the shore to see a blowhole

Larry's sister, Autumn, her husband , Jeff, and their baby Troy. It was fun having them along for the trip and Bryton loved having a playmate- They are only 2 1/2 weeks apart in age!

Walking in cute Lahaina

Dinner at Kobe Japanese Steak House

On one of the many hikes on the famous "Road to Hana", these trees had really neat looking bark- almost like they were painted.

Inside a neat sea cave

Black sand beach

A big Banyan tree in the jungle

Bryton and Troy playing on the beach
One night Autumn and Jeff kindly offered to watch Bryton while Larry and I went out on the town. We went out to a nice dinner and had a nice evening stroll along Front Street in Lahaina and the beach.

This picture has kind of a funny story. Last time we were in Maui a year and half ago there was a strange guy wearing no shirt, riding a bike, and with a parrot on his shoulder. He was riding down the middle of the street in front of our car, and making no move to get out of the street or even acknowledging that he noticed a car was there. We took a picture of him then, but it didn't really turn out. When we got to Lahaina this time we were saying how funny it would be if we saw him riding down thew street again. Sure enough, several days later he comes riding down front street shirtless, on his bike, and with his parrot. We saw him and thought it was so funny we had to discreetly take his picture again.

Whale watching- we saw quite a few whales, and even a calf

Bryton asleep sitting up on the beach- I guess he was just as relaxed as we all were!

It was so nice being able to be out at night in short sleeves!

Our last picture in Hawaii, how sad.

Bryton is so cute swimming! We go to Hawaii in Feb usually, but not this year, we kinda bought a house instead. Glad you guys had fun! I haven't done the island of Maui, Oahu has been too addicting!

Ahhhh I am so jealous :) I loved out trip last spring... Glad to hear Bryton was a good traveler like little Randy was-- it makes it a lot easier! Looks like you had a great trip, the pictures look fantastic! I LOVE those trees that look painted, I told Randy we have to get one someday :) Looks like Maui will have to be our next Hawaiian getaway!
