Larry and I took a trip to Pittsburgh to see his family. We see them often because they come to Utah a lot, but we hadn't been back to Pittsburgh since Ryan and Amber's Pittsburgh reception in 2004. It was fun seeing his family and old friends, but it was definately an "interesting" trip. I got sick with some kind of stomach virus on the day we left and spent the first couple of days afraid to go anywhere for fear of not reaching a bathroom in time. Lot's of fun! Then, when I finally got over the stomach bug I broke out in HUMONGOUS hives all over my body and spent a fabulous and fun-filled evening in St. Clair hospital getting doped up with Benedryl and steroids for some kind of random allergic reaction. The hives lasted on and off for like, 3 weeks and I still have absolutely no idea what caused them. So, needless to say, the trip really could have been better. We did manage to do some stuff around the weird illnesses, and all in all it was a trip to remember- take that however you wish!

Bryton and Grandma Darbous

Bryton in D.C. He looks pretty grumpy!

At "The Mall" in D.C.

Larry's little bro, Evan, in front of the "Most Important Painting in America". This has a pretty funny story. We were at the National Museum of Art in the Smithsonian complex in D.C. We go to look at this painting by Leonardo Da Vinci. It is the only painting by Leonardo Da Vinci at any museum in the U.S. Evan, being a typical 15 year old, decides he is going to touch the painting to see if it is protected by glass (oh boy). He starts to reach out for it and all of us are frantically whispering "No, no, no, don't!", as we all have a little more sense than a teenage boy and know it's not a good idea to touch famous paintings in a museum. Luckily, the painting WAS protected by glass, but unluckily for Evan the security docent in charge of the room the painting was in caught him (of course). He got a long, scolding lecture about art museum manners and about how that painting is the "Most Important Painting in America" and you just don't go around touching things like that. A bit embarrassing, but I think he learned his lesson. I think it was probably most embarrassing for his mom. Afterward, we had to get a picture of him in front of the painting to remember the moment.
